If we're talking desktops I wouldn't disagree, not for laptops. I've built many desktop gaming systems, including thermal refrigeration systems, hence if you want the best you build it, desktop.
Laptops are a different ball game, once upon a time if you wanted a good desktop replacement there wasn't a lot of choice, Dell XPS, Alienware, MSI, Voodoo etc. All these systems has + / - but overall Alienware gave you newest technology in the market into a laptop without compromise, unlike all the other manufacturers. When Alienware introduced 64bit op systems, with sata drives,, and new core cpu's others we're still living off promoting Ghz as the bench mark, but using old generation chips, and slow hard drives, etc.
I've owned XPS, Alienware, and an array of other systems, and to date my six year old Alienware laptop rocks with the newest of systems in the general market.
